FCO flood warning for Sri Lanka
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has advised holidaymakers to contact their travel firms after serious flooding in Sri Lanka.
The updated travel advice said heavy monsoon rains had caused serious flooding in 22 districts leading to the displacement of people and a number of deaths and injuries.
Landslide warnings are still in place of Uva and Central provinces, particulary Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla and Kurunegala.
The FO said: "Local transport links are affected in these areas with some roads closed and some train services down. Check with your travel company or hotel before considering any travel to affected areas."
