First Austrian ski resort opens this weekend
You might be thinking it’s far too early to ski, but that’s not the case because one resort in Austria will open this weekend and others might not be far behind.
Kitzbuhel in the Tirol will set its lifts turning for the first time on Saturday when it will welcome the first skiers and boarders of the season.
They will be transported to the higher Resterkogel/Resterhohe area, which will also be open on Sunday. The lifts will operate daily from October 21, in time for the British schools’ half-term.
More of the ski area will open from October 26.
Kitzbuhel is one of the most popular ski resorts in the world, with 54 cable cars and lifts giving access to 179 km of prepared slopes.
