Fleet St Travel acquires Dutch agency

Independent travel management company Fleet Street Travel has acquired its first agency on the Continent.

Fleet Street has bought Dutch independent corporate travel agency Dakota Business Travel for an undisclosed sum. Dakota will adopt a new trading name of Fleet Street Travel BV in 2005.

The deal brings Chertsey-based Fleet Street Travel’s locations up to six, including offices in London, Knutsford, Newcastle and Tralee in Ireland. The company employs 170 staff and achieved a turnover of £70 million in 2003.

Fleet Street Travel managing director Michael Hare claimed the benefits of having an office in the Euro-zone were “enormous” as it enabled the company to better tap into pan-European business.

He said: “Dakota contributes a strong base of existing operations, customers and experienced staff.”

Dakota founder Cees Van Bellen said: “We share the view that future success in business travel management lies with offering an international solution to clients.”
