Flight disruption expected for Queen’s coffin procession

Sunday, 14 Sep, 2022 0

Heathrow Airport said flights could be delayed this afternoon as the Queen’s coffin procession makes its way from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall.

Heathrow will reroute and possibly delay flights ‘out of respect’ for the mourning period.

This is to keep skies silent for the procession.

It will make ‘appropriate alterations to our operation’ to ensure a respectful silence over central London.

Flight operations are likely to be disrupted between 1.50pm and 3.40pm.

The airport said: “Passengers will be notified by their airlines directly of any changes to flights.”

“We anticipate further changes to the Heathrow operation on Monday September 19, when Her Majesty’s funeral is due to take place.”

“We apologise for the disruption these changes cause, as we work to limit the impact.”
