Florida Gulf Coast Island Hopper Songwriter Fest returns
The 11th Island Hopper Songwriter Fest is all set to kick off this weekend on Captiva Island, Florida.
Beginning on Sept. 19-21, the 10-day music festival then moves to Cape Coral, Sept. 22-23; downtown Fort Myers, Sept. 24-25; and wraps up on Fort Myers Beach, Sept. 26-28.
This year, more than 60 BMI singer-songwriters will be featured in more than 80 performances in intimate settings, giving fans the opportunity to experience the voices and stories behind the songs.
While most Island Hopper shows are free, tickets are still available for some experiences, including:
BMI singer-songwriter Frank Myers will perform with Cut the Chord String Quartet and Jimmy Nichols at the Captiva Civic Center on Captiva Island, Sept. 20.
Songwriter Sunset Cruise with performances by Ruby Amanfu and Sam Ashworth aboard Captiva Cruises, Sept. 21.
Headliner LOCASH will take the Island Hopper stage in Cape Coral at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village, Sept. 22.
Catch Julianne Ankley and Tim McGeary at the Luminary Hotel & Co.’s Island Hopper Dinner Experience in downtown Fort Myers, Sept. 24 and Essex County, Sept. 25.
The Americana Community Music Association (ACMA) Showcase at Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center will take place Sept. 24 in downtown Fort Myers and features a variety of performances including Robert Bidney, Kim Mayfield, Bill Metts, Roy Schneider and Ray Cerbone.
Experience Canvas and Chords, a charity event benefiting SWFL Reefs. BMI singer-songwriters Danny Myrick and Katrina Cain will perform at Alair Custom Homes on Fort Myers Beach while local island artist Lacy McClary paints a custom work of art.
Headliner Chris Young will wrap up Island Hopper with a pool-party performance at Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina on Fort Myers Beach, Sept. 28.
Island Hopper Songwriter Fest, named one of the Top 5 music fests by USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, is the largest songwriter fest in Southwest Florida offering unique listening experiences in smaller venues with a tropical setting as the backdrop.
