Foreign Office warning for football supporters
Football fans have been warned to stay alert due to the chance of further clashes with rival supporters at the World Cup.
The Foreign Office said clashes on Saturday between Argentine and Brazilian fans has led to an increased police presence on the streets of Belo Horizonte.
Brazilian police detained on Saturday two suspected members of Argentina’s infamous hooligan gangs, known in Spanish as "Barras Bravas’, according to media reports.
But the FCO warned fans there could be further clashes and to stay alert, follow the guidance of local authorities and steer clear of any signs of trouble.
It added that ticket touting is a crime in Brazil and visitors should be aware it is punishable by a fine or custodial sentence.
