Galileo’s US agents get access to Delta public fares
Delta is the latest airline to sign up to Galileo’s Preferred Fares Select programme.
The deal gives Galileo agencies access to all of Delta’s published fares – including those sold through the airline’s website as well as third party sites.
Galileo launched Preferred Fares Select (PFS) in July to replace its failing Preferred Fares and Momentum schemes. According to the GDS, the addition of Delta means that airline participation in the programme now accounts for over 60% of its US bookings.
United, Northwest,Continental and US Airways have also signed up for the scheme, which locks in Galileo’s GDS rates for three years on all US-originated bookings. However American Airlines, the largest carrier in the US, currently only participates in the equivalent Sabre programme (Direct Connect Availability).
Mitch Gross, executive vice president and managing director of Galileo Americas Client Services said: “This is a win, win scenario for the airlines and our affiliated travel agents. The first win -the airlines broaden
their distribution and reduce distribution costs. The second win – Delta’s participation in Preferred Fares Select also reinforces the value of the agency channel and provides Galileo-connected agencies with broad access to all published Delta fares and Web fares, enabling them to better serve their customers.”
PFS is currently only available in the US.
