Gatwick having busiest Christmas since the pandemic
London Gatwick Airport is in the throes of its busiest festive holiday season since the pandemic.
The airport says Sunday will be its overall busiest day, with 769 flights, according to CAA scheduled flight data.
On Christmas Day itself there are 228 flights scheduled.
Nick Williams, head of passenger operations, said staff were ‘working hard to deliver the best possible experience for passengers.’
The airport’s most popular long-haul destinations this Christmas are Dubai, Shanghai and Cancun, Mexico.
Geneva, Barcelona and Milan the most popular short-haul flights.
Last December a total of 1.63 million passengers travelled through the airport.
