Golf fans offered Ryder Cup discounts
With all eyes in the golf world on Medinah Country Club, Illinois, for the 39th Ryder Cup, the DuPage County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has been working with local hotels, restaurants, and attractions to provide area information and discounts for the anticipated attendance of more than 40,000 people per day.
The Ryder Cup, featuring teams from USA and Europe, takes place September 25-28.
The CVB was chosen as the exclusive destination marketing organisation to host the PGA’s official 2012 Ryder Cup lodging website.
To date, the DuPage CVB has contracted more than 16,000 group room nights and 6,000 room nights from individual reservations, representing over USD1 million in hotel revenue.
The DuPage CVB has also developed a Hospitality Guide and VIP Discount Card that will be distributed to Ryder Cup guests who have booked hotel rooms through the PGA reservation site, available at area hotel front/concierge desks, and on course at Medinah Country Club.
The information is also available on the DuPage CVB website.
"We’ve developed a unique Ryder Cup landing page on our website where visitors will not only find amazing discounts to restaurants and attractions, but also valuable information pertaining to Ryder Cup," said Brent Edwards, director of marketing.
"A special QR code on our VIP Discount Card offers the added convenience of direct access from users’ smartphones."
