Governor calls for Aruba boycott
Alabama’s Governor Bob Riley is calling for a nationwide boycott of Aruba on behalf of a missing teenager.
The governor accused the island’s government of not fully cooperating with the investigation.
“There are no other alternatives to get Aruban authorities to take this as seriously as they should,” the governor told the Associated Press.
The mother of the missing girl, Beth Holloway-Twitty has maintained for months that the government has not done what it should in the case of her missing 18-year-old daughter, Natalee.
Two suspects were held for a time but have been released.
The governor was asked at a press conference if parents should allow their children to go to Aruba while the teenager’s disappearance is unsolved.
“I would not allow my daughter to go to Aruba,” he said.
