Green tourism certification speeds up
Green Tourism Business Scheme completes efficiency initiatives and cuts certification turnaround time by a third
The GTBS has completed a series of initiatives over the last 12 months intended to streamline its ICRT-validated tourism eco-labelling offering and which has cut certification turnaround time by around a third.
These include investment in management systems resulting in:
- Double the number of professionally-qualified assessors taking the total to 12
- Improvements to training of the in-house assessment team including more intensive training programmes, mentoring and the introduction of an intranet
- The creation of ‘Greenfield’, a bespoke piece of software for the auditing process which streamlines the reporting procedure and builds a ‘best practice’ database, enabling assessors to offer a more efficient advisory service to members.
- emphasis on trip planning for auditors enabling them to engage more flexibly with a greater number of properties
- Establishing a dedicated membership department
Comments GTBS md Andrea Nicholas, "The challenge of balancing the need for rigorous application of the 145-measure GTBS programme with the requirement for efficient, speedy service provision for members has resulted in the implementation of a range of initiatives which have streamlined the process and cut certification turnaround time by a third."
