Gwyn Hughes to chair online hotel data provider
Ex-easyCruise CEO and P&O Cruises managing director Gwyn Hughes is to spearhead expansion in the travel industry for a new online independent hotel information and ratings provider.
Hughes has been appointed to the new role of non-executive chairman for Cranley Group, which claims to be the world’s first provider of detailed independent hotel information and ratings through its website.
Detailed reports are prepared annually by professionally trained reviewers. Comparison and search facilities generate unbiased information and links provide immediate access to hotel and intermediary sites for availability, pricing and booking.
The site launched with Dubai hotel content last year, expanding to cover Oman and Jordan soon after.
Cranley is now introducing European hotels with selected US cities to follow. A number of strategic partnerships with intermediaries are planned.
Cranley CEO Mike Murray said: “I see Gwyn as a visionary with a real pulse on market trends and in depth knowledge of the industry. He is exactly the kind of person this business needs as a chairman right now”.
Hughes said: “Amongst the plethora of web based information, global consistency and unbiased information will be appreciated by operators and travellers alike, and I am confident that the Cranley Group will achieve expansion targets and a profitable business model within the next two years.”
Hughes is also Chairman of Pinpoint Communications and a non-executive director of Bales Worldwide
