Hampton by Hilton planning big China launch
Hilton Worldwide has announced ambitious plans to develop the Hampton by Hilton brand in China.
The group has signed an exclusive agreement with Plateno Hotels Group to have as many as 400 hotels under the brand in China in the coming years.
It said the first Hampton by Hilton property would be ready by the end of 2015.
The Hampton by Hilton Chinese portfolio will be a combination of new builds, conversions and adapted reuse.
Plateno Hotels Group is one of the leading players in Chinese hospitality with a portfolio of over 3,000 hotels in 300 cities.
It operates the largest hotel loyalty program in China with 80 million members.
The Hampton by Hilton brand will help plug the shortfall of 3 and 3.5-star hotels in China, said Phil Cordell, global head, focused service and Hampton brand management.
"Our key strategic objective for Hampton is to expand our global footprint in China by offering a very popular hotel product in the mid-scale market, which has not evolved as quickly as in the economy sector," Cordell said.
"Plateno has the largest hotel footprint and loyalty program in China, in addition to being experts in development and management. Our partnership will fuel the growth of Hampton by Hilton in China in addition to allowing us to establish strong relationships with new owners and guests"
