Heathrow Airport strikes almost every weekend throughout summer
The next round of Heathrow Airport strikes would impact almost every weekend through the summer.
Members of Unite have ramped up the pressure in their long-running dispute .
Starting later this month, they will hold 31 days of strikes.
It involves about 2,000 Security staff at Heathrow.
Strikes are planned on:
June 24, 25, 28, 29 and 30
July 14-16, 21-24, and 28-31
August 4-7, 11-14, 18-20 and 24-27
The airport strikes, which will now also include T3 security officers, would include school holidays and the August bank holiday.
“Unite has already tried and failed to disrupt the airport with unnecessary strikes on some of our busiest days,” the airport said.
“Passengers can rest assured that we will do everything we can to minimise strike disruption.”
Heathrow security officers are paid up to £6,000 less a year than security staff at Stansted and Gatwick airports, Unite says.
Workers walked out last month and during Easter.
As well as British Airways, the expanded airport strike action could now impact flights of Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, Qatar Airways, United, American and Delta Air Lines.
