Marriott International to open hotel in Tripoli
Marriott International will open a 370-room luxurious JW Marriott hotel in Tripoli, Libya in 2011 under a long-term management agreement with Daewoo Tripoli Investment and Development Co., a joint venture between Daewoo Engineering and Construction and Oyia Co. When opened, it will be Marriott International’s first hotel in the country.
The 36-story JW Marriott Hotel Tripoli will be located in Tripoli’s new central business district and is expected to become a prominent landmark in the northern section of the city, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The main commercial centers, Al Imad and Burj Al Fateh, and government offices and embassies are all located close to the hotel.
The hotel will have an 80-room executive level and lounge which will offer guests a comfortable and elegant oasis.
For dining and entertainment, the hotel will have an open space lobby with special zones in which guests can linger over coffee, gather with colleagues for impromptu meetings, or simply relax. Three restaurants and a pool bar will give guests a wide choice of dining options. The all-day casual restaurant will offer an adjoining terrace for outdoor seasonal dining and the hotel’s two specialty restaurants will have private dining areas.
Recreational facilities will include a world-class spa, an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness center with sauna, Jacuzzi and juice bar. Other amenities will be comprised of a comprehensive business center, 24-hour room service, retail shops in the lobby, and laundry/valet services.
For meetings and social events, the hotel will have 12,300 square feet of space including an 8,109-square foot ballroom that will be divisible into four sections, and a number of conference rooms in varying configurations.
There are 43 JW Marriott hotels currently in operation worldwide with another 20 under construction and planned for opening over the next 36 months.
