Increased business demand as bmi adds Saudi route
Bmi has expanded it long-haul network by starting flights to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia from Heathrow.
The launch builds on a successful first eight months on bmi’s first Saudi route – Heathrow to Riyadh. As a result the carrier increased the number of business class seats available from 24 to 42 on the Riyadh and Jeddah routes.
Flights to Jeddah will operate from London on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Chief executive Nigel Turner said: “Today marks a further expansion of our long-haul network from Heathrow and demonstrates our commitment to providing services between the UK and Saudi Arabia.
“Our service to Jeddah will provide an important link for the development of trade and commerce between our two countries as well as creating an important gateway to the cultural and religious centres of Mecca and Medina.
“We were particularly encouraged by the demand for our business class product on our flights to Riyadh. This is why we took the step in April to increase the number of business class seats on services to Saudi Arabia to cater for demand.”
