Investigation after Air India jet almost collides with airport bus

Fearing an imminent collision, 30 passengers on a stationary bus at an Indian airport panicked and jumped off as an Air India plane came within inches of hitting the vehicle.
The incident took place at Jabalpur’s Dumna airport, and the aviation regulator has issued a warning to Air India, after it was discovered the ATR-72 aircraft was being marshalled to a parking bay by an untrained member of staff.
The 30 SpiceJet passengers had just arrived off a flight from Delhi and were waiting to to bussed to the airport terminal.
"The AI aircraft was not being marshalled to the bay by either a trained marshal or technician. This work was being done by a helper," a senior official from regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation told the Times of India.
Dumna airport director Ramtanu Saha said SpiceJet management has lodged a complaint and a report will be delivered to the regulator
An Air India official said: "There was safe distance between our aircraft and the SpiceJet Q400 (aircraft). However, after parking the SpiceJet captain got physically abusive with our technician. CCTV footage is available with air traffic control."
