‘It’s time to repay agent support’, insists new Wendy Wu global boss
Wendy Wu Tours UK Managing director Glen Mintrim is to lead the operator’s global operations as part of a management shake-up and immediately vowed to invest in the trade.
Mintrim will step into the role of Chief Executive from December 1, with UK-based global sales director John Warr set to oversee the sales and business development in Australia and New Zealand.
The new CEO immediately vowed to repay the trust shown by agents in Wendy Wu by investing in the trade.
"We are passionate about supporting the trade," he said. "Our travel agent partners have been an incredible support to us during this challenging time and hence it’s now time for us to do everything we can to work with the trade to bring customers back to them, whether online or back into stores.
"In response to demand, over the next six months we’ll be increasing our range of agent webinars and incentives as well as offering more unique special offers, such as our current free worldwide flights offer, plus more digital resources like the new trade version of our inspirational Whispers magazine. We know it’s been tough for agents as so we are ploughing more investment into the trade to bring our agents with us."
Mintrim, a former senior executive at Qatar and MD STA Travel, joined the operator in July last year after a two years spell leading the Crystal Maze Live Experience.
Wendy Wu said the senior charges reflect the disruption caused by Covid.
The firm’s founder, Wendy Wu, said: "Glen is an exceptional leader. His track record in transforming and expanding our business across multiple new platforms, as well as delivering a wide-ranging reset of the core UK business, has been extraordinary."
The restructure has seen Australia MD Mulholland exit the business.
