Japan to end mandatory Covid-19 testing of visitors from China
Japan will end blanket Covid-19 testing of all visitors from China this week.
It comes as the rate of those testing positive on arrival has dropped recently.
Officials will only carry out random Covid testing of travelers arriving from China.
Arrivals are still required to show proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of departure.
Japan will soon scrap the cap on direct flights from China.
Currently flights are limited to four major airports — Narita, Haneda, Kansai and Chubu.
At the moment, all travelers from China take a PCR or high-sensitivity antigen test upon arrival in Japan.
Those that test positive must quarantine for up to seven days.
