Jet Airways orders another 75 Boeing 737 Max jets
India’s Jet Airways has announce it plans to buy 75 more Boeing 737 Max jets.
The Mumbai-based carrier said in a filing it has agreed its third order in less than a year with the US plane maker for the 737 Max jets.
It now takes the total on order to more than 200 aircraft after signing firm orders in October 2017 and April this year.
The latest deal could be worth up to $8 billion at current list prices, and makes the airline the third largest MAX customer.
The airline didn’t disclose which 737 Max variant is plans to buy.
Jet received its first 737 Max aircraft just a week ago.
Jet aims to keep ahead of surging domestic demand which is showing little sign of slowing down, as rivals including SpiceJet and market leader IndiGo beef up their fleets.
Annual passenger growth has been rising about 20% in recent years.
Boeing said last year it estimates Indian airlines will need more than 2,000 new aircraft over the next 20 years to keep pace with growth.
