Jet2.com mounts Belfast challenge to easyJet
A battle of the budget carriers from Belfast is expected with Jet2.com adding five new routes for next summer.
Ibiza, Malaga, Palma, Milan and Toulouse will be added from Belfast International Airport, giving the carrier 12 destinations from Northern Ireland.
The move follows easyJet’s planned expansion from the province, as previously reported by TravelMole.
Jet2.com is to almost double its Belfast operations from spring 2007 and will go head-to-head against easyJet on routes to Malaga and Palma.
In addition to five new destinations, the airline is increasing frequency on existing services and will deploy more of its larger 235-seat Boeing 757s to the popular Spanish destinations of Majorca, Malaga and Murcia in place of 148-seat 737s.
Malaga and Palma will be served four times a week, Milan three times a week and Ibiza and Toulouse twice weekly. Jet2.com is to also increase frequency to Pisa.
