Korea booming
Deputy Director of the Korean National Tourist Office Hugh Lim [pictured right with Jennifer Doherty
PR/Marketing Manager for Korea Tourism Organisation] told The Mole last week at the Wendy Wu launch in Sydney that Australian tourism numbers to Korea are at record levels during 200, with statistics from Australia to Korea from January to July, 2007 showing an increase of 20.7% over the same period last year with the New Zealand market also showing an increase of almost 25% for the same period.
Mr Lim added that he and his team are working hard to further develop the strengthening tourism market to Korea from this region, adding, “This is an exciting time for tourism to Korea with the recent launch of our new brand image ‘Korea, Sparkling’ greatly enhancing Korea’s tourism potential.”
Korea, Sparkling, symbolises the energetic and lively Korean people and shows a country of dazzling culture, passionate people, vibrant nature and lively cities.
The Korea, Sparkling television advertisement campaign ran in Australia on Foxtel and was followed by a highly successful major Korea, Sparkling event in Martin Place in May giving Sydneysiders an opportunity to enjoy exciting Korean performances such as Korea’s famous theatre company Nanta, Taekwondo demonstrations and Korean traditional drummers and dancers.
