Latam fined $1 million for passenger refund delays
The US Transportation Department has hit Latam Airlines Group with a $1 million fine for passenger refund delays.
From March 2020, it received over 750 complaints saying Latam failed to provide timely refunds for cancelled flights to and from the US.
It took South America based Latam more than 100 days to process thousands of refunds.
Latam said it has issued over $62 million in refunds since the start of the pandemic.
The USDOT has fined seven airlines in recent months for delays in refunding a combined $622 million owed in passenger refunds.
