Legendary Barbados hotel to be restored to former glory
The legendary Atlantis Hotel, on the rugged east coast of Barbados, is being transformed back to it former glory after being acquired by the Australian owner of the island’s leading boutique resort, Little Good Harbour.
Little Good Harbour is already well known in celebrity circles for its award winning Fish Pot restaurant. Owner Andrew Warden is planning to restore the famous Atlantis, which sits on the famous and much photographed beautiful Bathsheba beach, into a comfortable ten room hotel property with a style and feeling in keeping with the friendly, intimate atmosphere of Little Good Harbour.
Work has already started on restoring the 19th century Atlantis, originally built as a grand private house before becoming a hotel in 1945. In recent years, although run down and neglected, the Atlantis remained famous for its Sunday brunch when local Bajans and holidaymakers alike would gather to enjoy the buffet made up of local island produce.
The Atlantis is expected to reopen later next year.
