London airport installs full-body scanner
London City Airport has installed a full-body scanner to speed up security screening.
The airport said the installation of the Quick Personnel Security scanner would enable it to stick to its aim of getting passengers from the front door to the departure lounge in 20 minutes.
It is part of a £2 million investment in security, it said.
Passengers stand in front of the open-plan scanner with their arms held slightly away from their body, enabling it to detect any hidden objects.
The airport said it has been certified by the European Civil Aviation Conference and there is no health risk associate with the transmitter.
