Lufthansa launches tailor-made economy fares
New economy class fare options from Lufthansa go on sale today (Tuesday) for travel from October 1.
The airline said Economy Light is the most economical option for those traveling only with hand luggage and not in need of any ticket flexibility.
Economy Classic adds in 23kg of checked luggage, plus seat selection, while Economy Flex allows for free rebooking or itinerary change and other extras such as additional Premium Miles for frequent flyers.
Lufthansa chief commercial officer Jens Bischof said: "It is the wish of many customers to only pay for the services they actually make use of."
Lufthansa also offers a fully flexible Business Class fare.
Lufthansa has upset the trade by announcing plans to introduce a €16 charge for every ticket booked via a global distribution system (GDS) from September 1. The fee will also apply to bookings made on Swiss, Austrian and Brussels Airlines.
