Luxury chain gets three new Mozambique hotels
Minor Hotel Group is to add three hotels in Mozambique and take a 25% equity investment in the properties.
The hotels are on the northern coastline of Mozambique and currently operate as part of the Rani Resorts portfolio.
They will be reflagged to MHG’s Anantara and AVANI brands later this year, taking the total number of MHG properties to 108.
The move is part of a joint venture formed with Dubai-based Rani Investment last August, which has already seen the Indigo Bay Resort and Spa in Mozambique re-branded to Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort and Spa.
Under the latest agreement, the 185-key Pemba Beach Hotel and Spa in the Quirimbas Archipelago will be rebranded to AVANI Pemba Beach Hotel & Spa, while the 13-chalet Medjumbe Private Island and the 24-villa Matemo Island will both be rebranded to Anantara. Matemo Island is currently closed for an extensive renovation.
