Manhattan parade-route hotels ready for Thanksgiving

Almost 3.5 million tourists gather every year in Manhattan to see the Thanksgiving Day Parade, and one bucket-list ritual surely is to watch the festivities from high up in a New York Hotel.

The three-hour spectacle – which this year will include Carrie Underwood, Jimmy Fallon and the crew from Sesame Street along wit the giant helium balloons – runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

The action starts on Wednesday, though, when the giant balloons are laid out and blown up right in front of the Park 79 Hotel, beginning at about 4:00 pm.

Overnight rates at the Park 79 start at $269, including hot tea, coffee, and cocoa to warm you up.

On Thanksgiving Day, the Park Central New York Hotel on Seventh Avenue is a good place from which to watch the show below.

Room rates at the Park Central start at $360, or just come for the Thanksgiving Day Buffet, which offers a great view for $150 a person.

Even more upscale, The JW Marriott Essex House NY, on Central Park South, offers a room and a bottle of champagne beginning at $749, or $1,099 if you want to watch out the window of the sumptuous breakfast buffet.
