Marriott signs five new Protea Africa hotels in Africa
Marriott International has inked five new management deals for Africa hotels in its Protea Hotels by Marriott brand.
The signed projects expand its presence across the continent which stands at nearly 140 properties in 20 countries and 19 brands.
“Protea Hotels has a long-established legacy in Africa, and we are excited to further strengthen the brand’s footprint,” said Karim Cheltout, Vice President – Development, Africa.
“While we continue to see demand for new build opportunities, the brand is seeing an uptick in conversion projects.”
The five locations are Serowe, Botswana, Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, Zanzibar, Abuja Jahi, Nigeria and Warri, Nigeria.
Protea Hotels by Marriott is a well recognised brand across Africa.
Properties are located in primary and secondary business centres and leisure destinations
The five new hotels will feature modern facilities, and amenities like full-service restaurants and meeting spaces.
Marriott International’s current portfolio in Africa features nearly 140 properties and more than 24,000 rooms across 20 countries and 19 brands.
Protea Hotels by Marriott represents over 40% of Marriott International’s portfolio in Africa.
It comprises over 60 properties and more than 6,500 rooms in operation across nine countries.
