MATTA Fair postponed until May
The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents has pushed back next month’s planned MATTA Fair in Kuala Lumpur
Citing the ‘massive upheaval’ being caused by the coronavirus outbreak, the original March date has been postponed to May 1-3.
MATTA said industry partners in Malaysia and overseas are seeing much reduced demand for travel in the coming weeks with customers putting off travel plans until there is a ‘return to normalcy.’
Partly to blame is the ‘negative public perception caused by indiscriminate social media postings,’ the travel agent trade group says.
Singapore’s three-day NATAS show has also become a victom of the outbreak.
Last week NATAS postponed its travel fair planned for February 21 to early May.
NATAS president Steven Ler said exhibitors had requested a postponement due to concerns about the expected turnout.
