Melia reopens hotels across Cuba
Melia Cuba has begun reopening its hotels on the island and will have all fully operational by mid-November.
There were several hotels impacted to varying degrees by Hurricane Irma in Cayo Santa María, Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo and Varadero.
Two properties in Varadero, the Melia Peninsula Varadero and Paradisus Varadero, are open and back in business.
The Sol Cayo Coco hotel in Jardines del Rey has also reopened.
The Melia Cayo Santa María and Melia Las Dunas hotels in Cayo Santa Maria plus the Melia Jardines del Rey will reopen early next month while the Melia Buenavista and Sol Cayo Santa María hotels are slated to be operational by November 15.
Melia has been cooperating close with the the Cuban tourism authorities to speed up restoration work and has spent the time wisely adding amenities so it can offer new products for the upcoming high season.
"Melia Hotels International Cuba greatly appreciates this enormous team effort as well as the loyalty and support of its guests, travel agents and tour operators," the company said in a statement.
