Minoan back on track with Crete resort development
The Minoan Group has moved one step closer to developing a 6,500-acre resort in Crete after an appeal against its fast-track status was withdrawn.
The appeal was dropped after the Greek court rejected a request to postpone the hearing.
Minoan chairman Christopher Egleton said this "illustrates the new reality that exists in Greece".
"Work on the various studies necessary for the environmental approval of the project has continued and these will now be submitted as soon as possible," he said.
"The Greek Government has expressed its intention to move forward quickly with strategic investments it considers vital for the country and we look forward to updating the market with further positive news from Greece in the coming weeks and months."
The resort is earmarked for the Cavo Sidero peninsula, which stretches out into the Mediterranean from the North Eastern coast of Crete in Lasithi.
The 1,936-bed hotel and leisure development will have several hotels, leisure, sports and cultural facilities.
Alongside the Crete project, Glasgow-based Minoan group has been on an acquisition trail and recently bought Classic Travel Limited, Golf Concierge, King World Travel, John Semple Travel and Stewart Travel.
