Missouri makes first UK sales mission for nine years
The Missouri Division of Tourism has made its first sales mission to the UK in nine years.
Headed up by Missouri Director of Tourism Dan Lennon, a team of representatives has been in London this week hosting events and training sessions and meeting with key operators, airlines, and agents.
"Since the recession hit in 2009/2010 we’ve had to pull back a little bit due to budgetary issues, but now we’re committed to coming back to the UK market, our biggest international market," said Lennon.
"We understand we’re not necessarily the first US destination, like Florida or California, Chicago or New York, but we think we appeal to the veteran US traveller who wants to find the so-called ‘real’ American life."
He said these travellers would not be as affected by the weaker pound against the dollar following the Brexit vote.
"I believe they have more income and resources and are less likely to be curtailing their travel," he said.
The sales mission also included representatives from St Louis – Renee Eichelberger, Branson, Lenni Neimeyer – and Donna Cordle Gray from the Missouri Division of Tourism.
Missouri will also be at World Travel Market in November.
