Additional flights from UK regions to Jersey have been laid on for next summer.
C. I. Travel Group is starting three new routes to the island and expanding flights from Oxford after the first summer of operation.
Saturday flights will run from Prestwick between Jun 19-September 11, Durham Tees Valley between May 29-September 11 and Ashford (Lydd) between July 10-September 11.
The routes from Prestwick and Durham Tees Valley will be operated in conjunction with Flybe, using a 78-seat Bombardier Q400.
The service from Lydd will be sold exclusively by the group using a 50-seat Fokker aircraft.
All three routes will be featured by the group’s brands including Airways Holidays, Discover Jersey and Channel Islands Travel Service.
The service from Oxford to Jersey will rise from 10 flights this year to 18 in 2010. In the first year of operation 93% of the seats available from Oxford Airport were sold.
The operator’s managing director Robert Mackenzie said: “Our clients are responding extremely well to the opportunity to fly from their local airport and avoid the costs and stress of larger airports.
“With many more UK holiday-takers deserting the eurozone in favour of a holiday closer to home, we believe that these new routes will prove to be popular with both new and existing clients.”
Jersey’s tourism director David de Carteret said: “C. I. Travel Group’s initiative is welcomed by everyone in Jersey’s tourism industry as this opens up an excellent opportunity for the island to market itself to several key regions of the UK that can now put Jersey on their shopping list as a very convenient and attractive option.”
