NCV boosts capacity in Chile
Norwegian Coastal Voyage is basing a second ship in South America due to growing demand. According to NCV demand for its cruises around the Chilean Fjords and Antarctica has matched the growth in demand for the overall cruising market. NCV head of business development, Laurence Hicks said the company has had to turn away custom in the past as voyages in Chile and Antarctica have been full. Once the 350-capacity second ship is in place, NCV anticipates it will control a quarter of the market share in traffic to the region. After three years of operating just one ship, MS Nordnorge in Chile and Antarctica, the ship will now be joined by MS Norkapp. The supplementary ship will be replaced in Norway by the 1956-built MS Nordstijernen, which has undergone a complete overhaul. Prices for a 16-night trip in the region cost from £4,520 per person including full board accommodation based on two people sharing, flights, and two nights in a four star hotel plus taxes and transfers.
