New airline Akasa Air suffers data breach
India’s newest airline, Akasa Air has reported a data breach just days after launching.
The airline warns customers to be ‘vigilant against possible phishing attempts.’
The data breach was ‘limited to names, email addresses and phone numbers’ and no travel-related information was accessed, Akasa said.
“A temporary technical configuration error related to our login and sign-up service was reported on August 25.”
“On being made aware of the incident, we immediately stopped this unauthorised access by completely shutting down the associated functional elements of our system,” it said.
“We undertook additional reviews to ensure that the security of all our systems is enhanced.”
It has reported the hacking to CERT-In, the government agency that deals with data security incidents.
Other Indian airlines including IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet have also suffered data breaches in recent years
