New Americas president for Hurtigruten
Hurtigruten has a new regional chief for the Americas after John Downey was named president.
Downey officially took over in late March and is responsible for all sales in the Americas and developing relationships with the travel trade.
Most recently he was ar Amazon where he managed the company’s advanced shopping technology service called Amazon Go, and helped create the Amazon Meal Kits.
Downey also worked at Motorola’s mobile division.
"I’m thrilled to lead Hurtigruten’s growth in the U.S. and look forward to building upon the company’s brand story," Downey said.
Downey’s professional background is a good strategic fit ‘as Hurtigruten builds upon 125 years in the industry and on the heels of the introduction of the world’s first hybrid ships," Hurtigruten CEO Daniel Skjeldam said.
