New opening marks renewed corporate expansion for Motel 6
Accor North America, one of the nation’s largest owner/operators of economy lodging, announces their first corporate acquisition in eight years — a new Motel 6 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
“By increasing the growth of both corporately-owned and franchised locations in our network, Motel 6 / Studio 6 is getting closer to achieving the goal of reaching 1,200 North American properties by 2010,†said Olivier Poriot, CEO for Accor North America, Motel 6 and Studio 6.
To achieve the goal of 1,200 locations in North America by 2010, Motel 6 and Studio 6 are aggressively pursuing franchising with 37 locations opened in 2007, the company says.
The 131-room Virginia Beach property was formerly operated as a Fairfield Inn and is immediately accessible to the Virginia Beach Town Center District, offering upscale shopping, dining and entertainment.
Accor North America currently has more than 950 economy lodging locations in the U.S. and Canada, with roughly 75% of its network consisting of corporately-owned and leased properties.
