New York announces September 11 anniversary plans
New York City will commemorate the anniversary of September 11 with a day long event.
The day will begin with processions to Ground Zero from each of the city’s boroughs and conclude with a sunset service in Battery Park attended by President Bush and invited heads of state.
At the memorial service at Ground Zero, former Mayor Giuliani will join victims’ families and colleagues in reading the names of the 2,823 people killed in the World Trade Center attack. The service will begin at 08:46 am (US Time), the moment the first plane hit the Trade Center. It will end at 10:29 am (US Time), when the second tower collapsed.
