Paris terror scare: police carried out controlled explosion
The centre of Paris was on lockdown yesterday as police carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect car.
Boulevard de la Madeleine, one of the four main streets running through the city centre from east to west, was sealed off as armed police surrounded the parked car.
Reports say police blew out the windows of the Fiat.
Police were later seen examining the car, first using mirrors and other equipment, then sniffer dogs. They have not yet said if the car was linked to terrorism.
France is still under a state of emergency following a series of terrorist attacks, including several in the capital.
