Passengers would swap airlines to avoid hand baggage charge
Passengers would choose to fly with another airline rather than pay for hand baggage, according to research.
Last week Wizz Air announced a trial to charge for large cabin baggage which it will roll out if successful, see previous story.
But flight booking site Skyscanner found that 88% of travellers would choose to fly with a competitor if an airline starts charging for hand luggage.
The poll revealed 64% of respondents deemed this new charge ‘unfair’.
Skyscanner’s Sam Poullain said: "Travellers now accept that some airlines charge for hold luggage. However an additional charge for hand baggage is a step too far for some."
