Phu Quoc delays tourism reopening
Vietnam’s southern island hotspot Phu Quoc will push back its planned opening for tourism. It will not be ready to welcome fully vaccinated foreign tourists in October due to slow progress in its vaccination drive.
Lam Van Thanh, Chairman of Kien Giang Province, said only 35% of adults have received the first jab and just 6% are fully vaccinated. Thanh said it will likely take at least two more months to get up to speed.
The Kien Giang tourism department said it plans to conduct a dry run reopening rehearsal in October.
