Play Golf at the Pyramids

Exclusive Report by Thomas E. King

“Golf is not a new sport in Egypt but golf tourism is a new industry in our ancient country,” said Maged E. Mostafa, the newly appointed Marketing Manager, Fly Golf, an Egyptian company specialising in golf tours to the land of the Pyramids.

Egypt has a dozen diverse golf courses.  Five are located in and around Cairo.  More are found at Luxor or near luxurious resorts that have been built in recent years along the Red Sea coastline.

The Sydney-based representative said that the company is offering two golf tours that tee off on superb courses in Cairo and Ain Sukhna, a Red Sea resort located an hour’s drive from the capital.

Land content only prices from June – October are $1260, twin share for a 9-night package using the JW Marriott in Cairo and from $1170, twin share using the Hilton Pyramids Golf Resort.   The price is adjusted in case the spouse is a non golfer, said Mr Mostafa.

Inclusions are six night accommodation in Cairo at either the JW Marriott or the Hilton Pyramids Golf Resort with breakfasts, three nights at the Stella De Mare in Ain Sukhna on a half board basis, green fees at four leading courses, a full day tour to the Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum and the Khanelkhalili Bazaar in a private vehicle and all transfers.

The tour itineraries are very flexible, he added.  As well, they can be specifically designed to be the sporting challenge for incentive tours to Egypt or the basis of corporate team building programmes, said Mr Mostafa.

The release of the Fly Golf packages in Australia follows a successful golf holiday program to Egypt that has been in operation for three years in Germany.
