PRD five seal airport cooperation pact
HONG KONG – Five Airports in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) – Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen and Zhuhai – have agreed to reactivate communication and strengthen co-operation.
The five have also pledged to contribute to the development of the mainland economy and aviation industry in the region.
Vice-Minister of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, (CAAC) Gao Hongfeng, said that the aviation industry on the mainland currently faced challenges arising from its very rapid growth.
“For instance, the airspace constraints facing PRD call for collaborative efforts of the five PRD airports.”
Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) chairman Dr Victor
Fung Kwok-king said, “In light of global economic integration, co-operation among regional airports carries far reaching implications. It will also help expand regional aviation market, enhance synergy and bring benefits to PRD airports.”
Representatives from the five airports signed a resolution for the establishment of Pearl River Delta Airports Cooperation Forum (PAC), a standing organisation to facilitate closer co-operation.
