Fast growing budget hotel chain Premier Inn has entered the Phuket market with a deal to operate a 350-room hotel on the holiday island.

It follows confirmed agreements for new Premier Inn branded hotels in Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, Koh Samui and Pattaya.

The company’s first venture in Thailand – the 224-room Premier Inn Bangkok Soi 11 – is scheduled to open by mid-2016.

Premier Inn Phuket will feature a restaurant, swimming pool, a fitness centre and meeting space.

“Premier Inn Phuket is an important addition to our fast expanding Asia property portfolio and marks a significant milestone for the Premier Inn brand. We are confident that the hotel will set a new benchmark in Phuket’s hospitality sector,” said Erik van Keulen, senior vice president development, Premier Inn Asia Pacific.

Premier Inn, with more than 50,000 rooms in 700 hotels under management in the UK, plans to make waves in Asia Pacific.

It plans to open 10,000 new rooms in India, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and the Middle East within five years.
