Qantas forced to inspect its new turboprop aircraft
A report in LIVENEWS says that Qantas has been forced to urgently inspect seven of its new turboprop aircraft because of potentially disastrous landing gear problems with the planes.
Canadian aircraft maker Bombardier is “highly recommending” that all its Q-400 turboprop planes worldwide be grounded for inspections after two incidents in Europe.
A Scandinavian Airlines Q-400 made an emergency landing because of landing gear problems, just days after an identical aircraft crashed when its landing gear spectacularly collapsed in Denmark.
Qantas says it will complete inspections of all seven of its Q-400s by tonight, but the five inspected so far have been cleared of any defects.
Qantas says it will not be grounding the fleet because its planes have less than half the danger level of 10,0000 landings.
