Richard Branson ‘seconds from death’ on charity climb
Sir Richard Branson has completed a mammoth trek to the summit of the Alps, but has tweeted he and the rest of the team were ‘seconds away from certain death’.
"Three seconds earlier we would all certainly have been killed. I have never come so close to losing my son," he said.
Sir Richard, his son Sam and others were trekking to the top of Mont Blanc on Saturday after completing a 33-day, 2,000 trek across Western Europe, called the Virgin Strive Challenge.
Before reaching the summit, they were caught in a rockfall, with rocks ‘the size of small cars’ .
The trip raised £6 million for Big Change charity.
After reaching the summit, the team were brought down by helicopter.
