Ringo kicks off Liverpool’s Culture Capital year
Liverpool is poised for a year-long tourism boom as it takes the stage as European Capital of Culture.
The first of a year-long programme of more than 350 events starts tonight with a People’s Opening including a rooftop performance by Ringo Starr.
Around 30,000 people are due to attend the city centre launch show.
The city’s Capital of Culture status is expected to attract an extra two million visitors in 2008 and boost the economy by £100 million
