Ritz to gym-goers: take a hike
Members of the exclusive L.A. Sports Club in Washington, DC, have again been banned from using the hotel elevators to ride one floor from the lobby to the club on the second floor at the Ritz-Carlton. Why?
“Apparently, hotel management doesn’t like sweaty jocks in workout gear mingling with paying guests at the swanky establishment. And they take the free apples from the lobby,” reported The Washington Post’s Reliable Source.
The rule requires any gym-goers who park in the underground garage to walk outside from the lobby and use the club’s separate entrance on 22nd Street. The effect is that Washington bigwigs such as US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and others will have to expose themselves to rain, snow and possibly even the paparazzi.
The hotel tried similar bans when it opened in 2000 and within the past year, although members — who pay $150 or so a month — raised such a fuss the rules were never implemented., according to the Post, which added the hotel’s general manager did not return phone calls. A spokeswoman for L.A. Sports Club had no comment.
