Rosewood to manage new Edinburgh hotel
Rosewood Hotels and Resorts is to manage a new 147-room hotel in Edinburgh.
The group has been appointed by Duddingston House Properties and Urbanist Hotels to manage the hotel, which is due to open in 2018.
Housed in the former Royal High School, an historic landmark building on Calton Hill, it will be Rosewood’s fourth property in Europe.
Many of its guestrooms and suites will have panoramic views across the city.
There will also be three restaurants and bars, a spa, fitness centre, indoor swimming pool, and event spaces and meeting rooms including a 3,200-square-foot ballroom.
Award-winning Scottish architect Gareth Hoskins, who was responsible for the redevelopment of the National Museum of Scotland, will restore the building.
"The former Royal High School is an Edinburgh landmark and we will be drawing on our experience with historic properties such as The Carlyle, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco and Hotel de Crillon to ensure the heritage and history of this building is preserved and celebrated," said Rosewood president Radha Arora.
Rosewood manages 18 luxury properties in 11 countries, with 14 new hotels under development.
